Congratulations, Terrell Gates – The BIG Giver!

Terrell_Gates_BIG_GiverEach year I Live Here I Give Here selects one BIG Giver, who has given their time, talent, expertise, and funds to one of our partner organizations. A BIG Giver is an advocate for their chosen organization who has created a long-lasting and personal impact on the community. This year, our very own Board President and long-time volunteer Terrell Gates was chosen from a group of seven finalists in several rounds of voting. The other six finalists were Sibby Barrett of PAWS Shelter of Central Texas, Rosalie Boldin of Armstrong Community School, Carly Christopher of Creative Action, Janie Cook of My Healing Place, Edward Flores of Austin Dog Rescue, and Sharon Schindler of Service Dogs.

We nominated Terrell for his work on behalf of the 12,000 youth that we serve in the Greater Austin area. Over the past three years, Terrell has been dedicated to our mission volunteering over 300 hours to various projects in addition to guiding our capital campaign.

“I Live Here, I Give Here works to inspire the people of Austin and their neighbors to make a difference in their community. Terrell Gates embodies that mission by inspiring everyone around him to get involved in improving the lives of our community’s most vulnerable kids. We are very excited to have the opportunity to honor him and his dedication to this important cause at this year’s BIG Give,” said Celeste Flores, Executive Director of I Live Here, I Give Here.

Terrell will be honored at The BIG Give, presented by Mercedes-Benz of Austin on Friday September 9th at 6:30pm at Textile.
